This video is intended for those that are searching for opportunities to serve as full-time, away-from-home senior missionaries. 00:01:00 40 years old. They're a married couple or a single sister. For brothers who are over 40,
00:01:07 they need to apply for a senior service missionary opportunity and that's covered under a different
00:01:12 video. But under this video, you can see a lot of different opportunities exist for senior
00:01:20 missionaries who are serving away from home. After you've explored that, then this gives you an
00:01:27 opportunity to start searching. But I'm going to encourage you to skip these
00:01:35 links down here because it's just going to be easier to search from this link

00:02:32 I'm going to say show me a list of my opportunities. Now, I think a good place to start here is to
00:02:40 answer these questions about your preferences. And so you say, am I a couple or I'm a senior
00:02:47 your sister, and then you say, I want to serve six months or one to two years, and then you
00:02:54 get to use this little slider to indicate how much you can afford a month, and you can
00:03:00 change that later, but you want to include the medical insurance, and then you can say,
00:03:06 show me the opportunities that are going to be available.
00:03:09 If you're going to be leaving soon, if you really want to go quickly, then you're going
00:03:15 should choose a short time here, but if you're kind of thinking more long-term, you can choose
00:03:25 a different availability period. By default, it shows the United States and I will say that
00:03:36 there are a lot of missionary opportunities in the United States, but the most, the greatest need
00:03:43 is outside of the country and you can pick an area that you want to serve. I'm
00:03:49 gonna leave that blank for now. You don't have to fill in anything and then you
00:03:56 want it to stay away from home. You can say in my own RV or trailer if you want
00:04:02 but if you serve at home no no opportunity is going to show up for a
00:04:07 full-time missionary and so then you get to pick the assignment types you can
00:04:12 click on here to learn more about the assignment types. And you can select up to four. So if you
00:04:18 want to do member and leader support, you want to maybe serve in a mission office or visitor center
00:04:27 or a temple, maybe you want to do family history. If you've got some medical experiences,
00:04:35 you might want to use medical or if you've got legal experience, you might want to
00:04:41 quick legal support and then you can indicate some language and so you can
00:04:49 just type in the language you want to speak and you can put in multiple
00:04:54 languages so if you have the ability to do a second language it would be good
00:05:03 for the church to know that. Now some of us have medical conditions and we can
00:05:10 pick the type of medical facility that is in the area where you're going to serve.
00:05:20 So if you don't have a lot of issues, you can say small clinic, you can say small hospital,
00:05:25 or if you have more major conditions you might want to pick a community hospital in emergency
00:05:31 care or a major medical facility, that will make a difference as to where you go.
00:05:37 So, we have put in some general parameters and it's going to fill those in, it's going
00:05:43 to search here, and then it's going to highlight the critical need opportunities.
00:05:49 These that are critical to the church and most difficult to fill, and then the second
00:05:55 tier is the high need opportunities.
00:06:04 then those really are going to be at the top of the list because they want you to
00:06:10 consider those. Now see all these little filters on this side. You can change the
00:06:17 monthly cost. I put in 3500 in the initial interview but I can change that.
00:06:23 I said I'm thinking about being available in six months outside the
00:06:29 country living away from home and here are the types that I checked. I have
00:06:33 these languages and I've chosen the hospital. See all of that stuff is right
00:06:36 here already populated because you input the questionnaire but all of that can
00:06:40 be changed. Now if you want to you can consider assignment types one at a time.
00:06:46 So let's say you just wanted to look at member and leadership support
00:06:52 opportunities. You can get rid of the other opportunities by just clicking on
00:06:57 the little X and then I'll give you the member and leadership support options
00:07:02 that might be there. The other thing is you can actually delete all of the
00:07:07 opportunities and then hit the plus sign and pick different ones. So let's say
00:07:11 you decide and want to do something related to church history, then you can
00:07:16 come and look at that. And here's a high-need one in South America,
00:07:21 Northwest areas. So there are different things that you can do to modify the search
00:07:27 parameters. Now as you go into these opportunities then you can click on the
00:07:40 name here and it will give you a little bit more information about where it's
00:07:48 going to be, what the costs are, and if you're interested about that and you want
00:07:53 to come back and look at this you can click on I'm going to consider that one
00:07:56 And let's say that you want to go speak Spanish in Argentina, you can click on that one and you can click on consider this.
00:08:08 And one of the things that you might want to do is consider printing the ones that you are considering
00:08:13 so that you can discuss them with your bishop as he fills out the recommendation form and as you complete it online.
00:08:21 line. Then once you have decided the ones that you're interested in, you can
00:08:29 click on Next and look at the opportunities that you've got and then
00:08:42 it will make a list. This is something that you probably want to take to the
00:08:46 and then you can prepare a submission, decide what you want to do to do that.
00:08:57 I'm not going to click on any of that, but when you're ready to consider it,
00:09:04 then you can click on one of them and then prepare a submission for that form.
00:09:10 Now, let's say that you want to ponder it, you come away, you log out, you log back in.
00:09:16 When you come back to the senior missionary page, you're going to click on My Opportunities,
00:09:21 click on Missionary, and then it will bring back what you've been considering.
00:09:26 And then if you decided that you really want to go to the Philippines and these other
00:09:34 opportunities aren't going to be considered anymore, then you can prepare your submission.
00:09:42 But you can prepare submission for four to eight opportunities to give the church some
00:09:51 idea of what you're willing to do and what you would kind of feel comfortable doing.
00:09:56 And then the next step would be for you to complete it, fill in the application that they
00:10:06 ask you online.
00:10:08 You do not have to select preferences to make a submission.
00:10:14 And after you do a prepare submission, the next step would be visiting with the bishop.
00:10:23 So that takes care of those that want to serve as a full-time away-from-home
00:10:30 missionaries, either out of the country or in the country, and that gives you some
